"We've been to nine previous dude ranches.
Rawah's riding and food are the best by far."

At Rawah, our riding possibilities are nearly limitless - through forests, along sage-covered hills, past tumbling streams, beaver dams and ponds, next to granite outcrops and rainbow-ribboned sandstone cliffs - on riding trails ranging from the steep and narrow to the more level open areas with top-of-the-world views as far as the eye can see. There is no better way to experience the beauty of Colorado's Rocky Mountains than from the back of one of Rawah's fine horses.

Ride your way, at your pace, in small groups. We have an outstanding string of horses - all owned by us - to match any type of rider. We listen carefully to what you tell us when we pair you with your equine partner for the week. Then we listen again when you tell us what you'd like to do. Since we have plenty of wranglers, groups are small. And because we believe that the riding should be flexible, you choose - from several half-day rides each morning and afternoon or all-day rides any day. High, low, fast, slow, short, long...it's your choice.

Two weeks (at least) are needed to cover all the rides available at Rawah. Destinations include a 12,000 foot pass near never-melting snow, breathtaking overlooks of our sweeping valley and its peaks, cascading waterfalls, abandoned miners' cabins. Or rides can be "destinationless," just moseying around the valley, looking for moose (they're usually to be found), savoring the sights and sounds.

Many of our rides last "all day." That means enjoying your lunch in settings you'll never forget - gazing at a waterfall, watching pronghorn antelope graze, having a snowball fight in August...Two or more all-day rides go out on typical days - and YOU choose. Each can be short or long or something in between.

We also ride to breakfast each week - food just smells and tastes better, cooked over crackling fires, along the crystal-clear stream in the pure morning air.

And you'll improve as a rider. The riding week begins Monday morning with our popular horsemanship clinic, when you'll meet your horse and learn or refresh some basic skills. There's individual or group instruction throughout the week, at no extra charge. But just spending time in the saddle, with a helpful wrangler nearby, might be the best teacher of all!

You're welcome to be around the barn at grooming and saddling time, too, if you'd like to help take care of your horse. Just let us know what you want - we'll do our best.
